Connections are structural elements used for joining different members of a structural steel frame work.  Steel Structure is an assemblage of different memberØ such as “BEAMS, COLUMNS” which are connected to one other.  When there is the requirement to cater the heavy loadØ and long span then the built-up sections are to be provided.  In case of longer span, the length of standard sectionØ needs to be connected with other section.

Structural steel connections join steel fabrication elements or steel fabrication elements and concrete elements (in the case of some standard steel connections). You can create them in 3D or plan views and they are only visible when the Detail Level of the view is set to Fine.

Revit Architecture is widely used software to design steel connections. Along with Revit there are various other civil softwares used by the industries such as Revit structures, Revit MEP, StaadPro, 3DsMax, ArchiCAD, VRay, GstarCad, BricsCad, Etabs, StormCAD, WaterCAD, AutoTURN and many more. Types of Connections:

The classification in the connections provided in the Steel structure is as follows:

·        Riveted connections

·        Bolted connections

·        Welded connections

 Among these, Riveted connections are nowadays obsolete.


·        Added Australian code AS 3600-2018.

·        Added Korean code KBC 2016, including seismic design requirements

·        Added Mexican Building code (Mexico RCDF 2017).

·        The New Zealand code NZS 3101-06 now incorporates torsion design of beams.

·    Design by Russian code SP 63.13330.2012 has been significantly expanded and enhanced, including the addition of crack-width analysis for concrete beams.

·        Added Turkish code TS 500-2000(R2018), including seismic design requirements.
