SHEET METAL NESTING

Sheet Metal Nesting is one of the crucial step in sheet metal Designing and manufacturing process. Nesting includes planning the available sheet in most effective way such that maximum numbers of component drawings are accommodated in the available sheet. The most common sizes of sheet metal available in the market is 1250x2500xthickness (mm) in CR or HR sheets and in rare cases which is rolled sheet sizes available are 1250x2300xthickness. It is most important to maintain allowance between drawing to drawing in nesting as there is chance that laser may cut the portion which is part of component, if this allowance is not maintained.

SOLIDWORKS 3D allows you to quickly create sheet metal part designs using a simple design process, saving you time and development costs, thanks to specific sheet metal features. We can use these features to create sheet metal designs with several different methods. We will focus on the flange method, where a sheet metal part is created in the former state using specialized sheet metal features.
